The Extra Virgin Olive Oil Company elves are working hard these days; a 5-litre can arrived at the Towers here the other day which we've been rigorously testing and sampling. The judge's opinion(s):
The 2009 crop of Montecucco Extra Virgin Olive Oil is one of the greats, possibly on par with the legendary '95 Western Slope single orchard (Suveretto) - it's that good. 2009 is showing good color and body with exceptional high notes of pepper and leather, along with undertones of sea air and grass. Light in bouquet but high in viscosity, we feel this will be an excellent oil for tasting, drizzling, and cooking.
