It's almost April which means the Euro Classic races are underway with the big ones coming up: Het Volk, Tour of Flanders, Pairs-Roubaix, etc. It's also spring here in Seattle and we're plenty busy with welded frames - mostly ti and steel, some XCr - and with the lugged frames and brazed forks, some racks, repairs and assembly... As busy as we are it still pains us when we see boxes of tubes that gather more dust than we like - and what is gathering dust these days? Columbus MAX tubing! I know, it's crazy, I don't get it, but there it is.
MAX is great stuff, excellent for riders above 180 pounds, is a joy to machine and weld, looks fantastic when painted. Pal Don Ferris has a great treatise on the tubing over at Anvil - here's a link wherein I boosted his text.
Here's the deal: we have six sets of MAX tubes here, we'd like you to order a Euro-Classic-race style Gran Paradiso with Edge carbon fork (painted, of course), maybe a sloping top tube, and we can tweak the tubes if you want a lighter frame. But we can also do a Strada Bianca-style bike for fenders/big tires/57mm-reach calipers, choice of fork - your call.
Our regular price on a welded MAX frame is $2500 - and is still a bargain. For this month, and limited to the six sets on hand, we're offering a MAX frame with choice of fork for the low, low price of only $2200. How do we do it? We buy right - and so can you! Delivery will be 3-4 months, max.
